We could not have asked for a more beautiful day for our October meeting. And with 17 enthusiastic volunteers working throughout the gardens, we accomplished quite a bit.
One very satisfying task was dividing and spreading some of our existing perennials - making use of free plants to improve the gardens. Here's a before and after section of the garden where volunteers transplanted the divided plants.
For those working under our chestnut trees, this was done under a barrage of conkers!
Other activities included leaf collection for our new leaf-mould enclosure, ongoing pruning of the perimeter shrubs, lots and lots and lots of cleaning up existing beds, and finally, planting some new shrubs and hellebores.
